Lorraine McGirt has more than 20 years experience in the nonprofit sector. Much of her work has been in the field of youth development. Lorraine began her career as the first Program Director for the YMCA’s Black Achievers Program. Before taking on the position of program director at the Achieving Reunification Center, Lorraine spent the last 6 years overseeing the City of Philadelphia Department of Human Services $22 million investment in afterschool and summer programming.
Throughout her career Ms. McGirt has worked tirelessly to help nonprofit, youth serving organizations to grow and expand their ability to serve children and youth through strategic alliances and efficient organization operations. In May 2010, Lorraine was recognized by Ebony Magazine in conjunction with Pine Sol, Inc. for her more than 11 years of providing sports based youth development activities to community youth through her nonprofit organization, Urban Youth Association (UYA). A woman of faith and native of South Philadelphia, Ms. McGirt holds a BA in Social Work from the Pennsylvania State University.
